Building Marketing Funnels That Work

When I was still finding my feet in my marketing career I agreed to build a whole new online platform for my brother’s business. You may know my business partner, Niall is my brother. At the time he was running a boat brokerage and online chandlery shop selling boating equipment. The out of the box e-commerce platform he was using was completely stifling his ability to market the boats he had for sale the way he wanted to so we decided to design a new marketing system – website, landing pages, lead capture mechanism, email autoresponders, the works. And then I set about building it.

Neither of us knew if it would work, but it turned out to be the best thing he’d ever done. It was really just a few simple ideas put together in as lean a way as possible. One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing they need a fancy, bells and whistles technical set up to make their marketing work… and then they get lost in the complexity of it all. My vote is always to use as simple a set up as possible and then focus on actually using it.
